Daily activities for disabled in Karlstad include a Swedish summer all year round

The concept of Sunwell sunrooms has become a success not only in hundreds of care and nursing homes, but is also becoming increasingly popular in activity centers for the elderly and disabled people . The latest project is a newly built sunroom in Karlstad, Sweden.

The municipality of Karlstad, which bought a church in the Herrhagen district, has renovated and adapted the premises for the care and welfare administration’s daily activities. Daily activities are aimed at people with various disabilities. In addition to activities in new fresh premises, sunlight therapy in a sun room will also be offered.

Maria Falk, operational manager, has many years of experience of activating adults and the elderly with disabilities.

– When we saw the dark, completely soundproof room on the basement floor, we immediately felt that it would suit perfect for a sun room, says Maria.

The inspiration for the interior came from previous visits to the health center on Kusten Hammarö and from the study visit to Oskarslund’s nursing home in Karlstad. Both facilities have invested in a sunroom with a Swedish coastal environment and solar simulators of model Triple.

People with disabilities need peace and quiet, but also sensory simulation. Several also have various physical limitations, where the pleasant heat from the sun has a relaxing effect.

Final details such as sun loungers and other furnishings are underway. On Monday 3rd May, the gates to the new sunroom will open, where adults over the age of 18 with disabilities can enjoy the wonderful sun therapy and fellowship.
