New sun corner at Kaggeled’s nursing home in Gothenburg

In the Budget Proposition for 2021, the Government proposes that Sweden’s municipalities receive a supplement of SEK 4 billion annually to strengthen care for the elderly. Several municipalities are investing in a better working environment and increased quality of life for the elderly, also by installation of solar rooms in nursing homes.

Sunwell has installed solar rooms and corners in more than hundred of nursing homes, both municipal and private ones. Sun therapy in a comfortable solar environment reduces exclusion and fulfills important social function. Sunlight turns out to have a very positive impact on both mental and physical health in the elderly, while the staff get more energy for care and commitment.

Sunwell has got off to a flying start in 2021 directly with a new installation of a solar environment for the elderly and demented who now receive extra stimulation in dark times with lack of sun, restrictions and social exclusion. Kaggeled’s nursing home in Gothenburg has finally got its sun corner with a background image from the Swedish west coast, a stable bar table and a Triple solar simulator. The manager Minna Dufva confirms that the elderly already enjoy sun and heat from the Sunwell solar simulator and get a nice rest, despite snow and debris outside.
Other furniture and plants for the right feeling of sea and beach will come soon.
